They arrived in Budapest, Hungary on the 7th of June and stayed in Martfu until the 13th of June for a pre-competition training camp. Once returning to Budapest they began music practice in the competition pool.
Friday 17th June the Competition began with Technical Duet up first. Georgia Courage-Gardiner and Milena Waldmann were nervous with anticipation to compete as a senior duet, representing Australia for the first time. The next event was Technical Team on the 19th June. Although many of the team members were new to this level of competition, their nerves eased after Georgia and Milena’s swim and they felt ready to dive in. They swam well without any element penalties, scoring 70.5530 in 17th place.

At the end of the Artistic Swimming events FINA held a Gala with performances from many countries. Our team performed a routine to the theme song from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. The crowd loved the song choice with roaring applause for the display.
Overall this was a great entry back into in-person international competition since Tokyo and a great experience for all of the team members to represent Australia at the Senior level for the first time.
The team departed Budapest on the 26th. After a short break, many of the younger athletes will compete at the Hancock Prospecting Australian National Championships on the 4th of July. They will then begin preparing for the Junior World Championships with camps on the Gold Coast throughout July and August.
