FINA Beginner Judging Course
The FINA Artistic Swimming Development school is running a Beginner Judging Course in September over a duration of Four (4) days concluding with an exam. The course will be presented in English and is open to anyone 18-65 years of age with no prior knowledge or experience needed. Full participation in all sessions and required assessments is necessary to complete the course.
Content:
- Participants will become familiar with the FINA Artistic Swimming Rules (2017-2021).*
- Participants will demonstrate understanding of Basic Body Positions and Basic Movements, using Appendices II and III of the FINA Artistic Swimming Manual for Judges, Coaches & Referees 2017-2021.*
- Participants will analyse 12 and Under Figures, using Basic principles, the Expanded Marking scale and Guiding scales for Height and Splits.
- Participants will be introduced to Judging Free Routines, more specifically to judging Execution, Artistic Impression and Difficulty.
- Participants will discuss Ethics for Judges, including the importance of disclosing all Conflicts of Interest.
*While this course uses the 2017-2021 documents, the learnings gained from this course will be easily transferable to the new rules & manual which will be updated later this year. The Basic Positions, Height Charts and Figure Tables will not change.

- Each FINA Artistic Swimming Development Webinar requires a minimum of 10 and may have a maximum of 15 participants.
