Team Australia Youth January Camp

The Youth National Team had an excellent start for the year 2023.

Trials for the Squad were held in November, and we have record entries for the squad.

The first camp based at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) between the 6th – 16th of January was a great success. The Team Australia Youth National Squad is overseen by National Pathway Coach Krisztina Szedlak, Head Coach Ana Mendigutxia, and Assistant Coach Rebecca Maher.

This first Team Australia Youth Squad camp consisted of 19 athletes from New South Wales (2), Queensland (4), Western Australia (7), and Victoria (6).

The January camp was a marvelous success, with the completion of a new Combination routine for the season. Youth athletes fully learnt the new routine according to World Aquatic’s new Artistic Swimming Rules. The athletes showed great determination and motivation throughout the entirety of the camp and have proven to themselves that they can accomplish great feats together as a team. The AIS facility was exceptional and helped achieve an excellent experience for all the athletes.

The selected team is preparing for the World Aquatics Youth World Championships in Athens, Greece, from the 30th of August to the 3rd of September, where we aim for a top-ten performance.

After the April Australian National Championships and the next camp, the final team for the World Youth Championships will be selected.
