Team Australia Junior January Camp

The Junior National Team had an excellent start for the year 2023.

Trials for the Squad were held in November and we have record entries for the squad.

The first camp based at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) between the 6th – 16th of January was a great success. The Team Australia National Squad is led by Head Coach Emanuelle Mah and Assistant Coach Alexandra Del Sorbo.

The Team Australia Junior Squad comprised of 13 athletes from New South Wales (3), Queensland (3), Western Australia (6) and Victoria (1), it also incorporated a few athletes that were part of the Team Australia Senior Squad.

The January camp was a marvellous success with the Junior athletes fully learning the Technical Team routine and rechoreographing the Acrobatic Routine according to World Aquatic’s new Artistic Swimming Rules. The athletes showed great determination and motivation throughout the entirety of the camp and have proven to themselves that they can accomplish great feats together as a team. The facility at the AIS was amazing and really helped achieve an excellent experience for all the athletes.

With now World Aquatics World Junior Championships, the squad will compete in an international meet towards the end of the year and will set a target of achieving a new score with the new scoring system. Obviously, there is an eye on next year’s World Junior Championships, and the goal of breaking into the top ten.

After the April Australian National Championships and the next camp, the final team for this event will be selected.
